Barcelona kept a 29 million euro buyback clause in Ansu Fati's contract
Barcelona is completing the transfer of Ansu Fati to AS Monaco and will keep the buyout clause worth 29 million euros.
One of the deals that Barcelona prioritizes before the summer transfer window is completing the agreement to leave Ansu Fati to AS Monaco. The La Masia graduate spent last season on loan at the Ligue 1 club and showed his ability, despite not being first choice. The Spaniard is on the brink of ending a difficult chapter at Camp Nou, with the deal expected to be completed by June 30. While a departure would mark another significant departure from Barcelona's summer plans, the club appear unwilling to completely close the door on the striker's future. According to journalist Gabriel Sans on Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will keep a buyback clause worth 29 million euros as part of the Ansu Fati sale agreement. The inclusion of such a clause gives Barcelona protection in a situation where they could bring him back if he continues to develop and reach his best form. Despite the many difficulties that interrupted his progress, few within Barcelona have forgotten the level to which Ansu showed in the early stages of his career. At one point, he was seen as the natural successor to the club's next generation, breaking records and establishing himself in the first team at a very young age. However, injuries, instability in his ability to play and fierce competition for places have prevented him from becoming the player many expected him to be at Camp Nou. For now, parting is probably the best solution, but this is also Barcelona's way of saying that this goodbye could be a "see you later". The 29 million euro buyout clause is perhaps the most interesting part of the deal. If Ansu finds his best form in France and finally gets the continuity he has lacked for much of his career, Barcelona will have the chance to bring him back without having to engage in a complicated auction. Either way, the club will wish him success. Even the fans will be happy to see Fati achieve what they had hoped for his career, even if it happens in a different shirt. Ansu's story should not be judged solely on the difficult years he went through. Barcelona are willing to let him go, but they also ensure that a path back remains open.
