Barcelona tracking 26-year-old Liverpool striker at World Cup – report
FC Barcelona is currently aiming big at completing the contract with Julian Alvarez, the 26-year-old player who has emerged as a top target to replace Robert Lewandowski. The Argentine striker has publicly expressed his desire to leave Atlético Madrid and his dream is to play for Barcelona. According to previous information, the Catalan club is determined to pursue this deal after Alvarez expressed his intention to transfer.Barcelona are still trying to convince Atlético Madrid to negotiate for Alvarez, while reports from England say the club are also considering alternative options. In fact, Barcelona contacted Harry Kane's representative to find out the intentions of the striker playing for Bayern Munich.

Recently, according to information from Daily Mail (quoted from Mundo Deportivo), Barcelona's scouting department watched Alexander Isak in Sweden's matches at the World Cup taking place in the United States. This Swedish striker has been admired by the Catalan club for many years. In fact, the La Liga champions tried to recruit Isak two summers ago, when he was still playing for Newcastle United, but the deal was not successful. Liverpool finally secured Isak's signature last summer for a British record fee of £125m, which could rise to £130m including add-ons.
According to the report, Isak's underwhelming season at Anfield has reduced his transfer value, possibly making him a more viable option if Barcelona decide to pursue an alternative to Alvarez. At 26 years old, Isak endured an injury-filled debut season at Liverpool, only appearing in 22 matches in all competitions and scoring four goals. However, his form showed signs of improvement at the World Cup, with one goal and three assists in three matches for the Swedish team.
Currently, there is nothing to suggest that Barcelona are seriously pursuing Isak, but they are still monitoring his form at this quadrennial tournament. Convincing Liverpool to sell Isak after just one year of signing a contract will be a big challenge, as his contract runs until 2031. However, Alvarez is still Barcelona's top priority, while Kane and Isak are seen as backup options if the deal with the Argentine striker fails.
