Four Scotland fans had a memorable weekend in Boston by becoming the first winners from the UK in the Boston Red Sox 50/50 draw. Father and son, Peter and Paul Innes and John and Ross Henderson, from Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, attended a night celebrating Scotland at the famous Fenway stadium shortly after Scotland defeated Haiti in their opening match of the World Cup. They bought a $40 lottery ticket on Sunday when the Boston Red Sox faced the Texas Rangers and "after checking the ticket numbers 250 times", they discovered they won $21,353.80 (about £16,132.90). "It's unbelievable," said Paul, who has followed Scotland for more than a decade with his father. "This hasn't really sunk in yet for me." Half of the prize money will be used to support the Red Sox Foundation, so the team from Bonnyrigg received a check for $10,676.90 (about £8,066.45) before the Red Sox's match against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.
