Teammates sent touching wishes to Argentina captain Lionel Messi on his 39th birthday

Lionel Messi, Argentine football legend, had a memorable birthday at the age of 39 during the 2026 World Cup. At the Argentina team's training base in Kansas City, Missouri, their captain received many gifts and good wishes from his teammates. In the first match, Messi scored three goals against Algeria and two against Austria, helping Argentina advance to the knockout round as defending champions.
On social networks, Messi shared a photo with a birthday cake, alongside some of his teammates. The cake was made by Pan Caliente, a Kansas City bakery owned by an Argentinian chef. In another photo, Argentina's players stand next to Messi, all wearing T-shirts with personal photos of themselves with their captain. "To the person who changed our lives, brought unforgettable moments and made us believe that dreams are possible... The best part is not just seeing it — it's living with you! Happy birthday, captain; we love you. May you always be happy," the shirts read according to a social media post by striker Julián Álvarez.
FIFA, Messi's club Inter Miami and former club Barcelona also sent him birthday wishes. In Rosario's hometown, about 5,000 children from local schools sang "Happy Birthday," and some even brought him birthday cakes.
