Former young French talent (29 years old) appeared at Telstar
Telstar officially began preparations for the new Eredivisie season on Tuesday. On the training ground at Velsen-Zuid, new coach Henk Brugge welcomed a standout trialist. Jean-Kévin Augustin, who has an impressive past with a transfer fee of more than 20 million euros to Leeds United, is hoping to revive his career at this team.At the age of 29, Augustin was once considered one of the biggest talents from Paris Saint-Germain's training facility. After 31 matches for the first team, in the summer of 2017, he moved to RB Leipzig for a fee of 16 million euros. Here, Augustin scored 20 goals and had 8 assists after 67 matches, marking the peak moments of his career.

However, since the 2019/20 season, this striker's career has fallen into crisis. After an unsuccessful loan spell at AS Monaco, Augustin moved to Leeds United in January 2020. This team borrowed him with a buyout clause if they won promotion to the Premier League, which happened. However, Augustin only made three appearances in half a year and Leeds were forced to return him to Leipzig, leading to a subsequent legal battle. Leipzig won this dispute and received 18 million euros from Leeds, while Augustin was also compensated with a sum of about 27.9 million euros for not being able to sign a five-year contract and the high salary he missed out on.
After more than a year without a club, Augustin's career continued to decline. He had experiences at FC Nantes and FC Basel, before coming to Poland in March 2025. Here, he only appeared 4 times for Motor Lublin and then fell into a situation without a club in the summer.
Now, Augustin looks to score points with Telstar, with only a year left since his last match. However, as is often the case with trial players, his future at the club remains to be confirmed after Telstar's first friendly match next Saturday, where they will face Helmond Sport. Currently, it is unclear whether Augustin will be able to play in this match or not.
