Dino Toppmöller officially sits as RC Lens coach
Dino Toppmöller has been appointed as the new coach of RC Lens, succeeding Pierre Sage, who has moved to Crystal Palace. Toppmöller signed a two-year contract and is expected to bring tactical expertise to the team.
German coach Dino Toppmöller has officially taken over as coach of RC Lens, replacing Pierre Sage, who moved to Crystal Palace. Toppmöller has signed a two-year contract with the Artois team. Sage guided Lens to second place in Ligue 1 and won the club's first Coupe de France, however, he has created doubt over his future. Crystal Palace, looking for a new manager after Oliver Glasner left, quickly approached Sage. On Monday, they announced the arrival of Sage. Meanwhile, Lens searched for a replacement and quickly reached an agreement with Toppmöller, who, like Sage, had a habit of playing with a three-man defence. The 45-year-old coach directed Eintracht Frankfurt to third place in the Bundesliga in the 2024-2025 season. "We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dino Toppmöller, a highly regarded figure in Europe, who combines tactical savvy, experience in European competitions and outstanding personal qualities," said RC Lens CEO Benjamin Parrot. "RC Lens and Dino represent the meeting of two rising stars, two challenges sharing a common language: intensity."
