Donyell Malen dreams big: "I want to win a title with Roma and a world cup with the Netherlands"
Roma player Donyell Malen expressed his ambition to win a title with the club and a world cup with the Dutch team after a good start at the tournament.
Donyell Malen is enjoying wonderful moments between the national team and club. The Roma striker, currently playing for the Netherlands at the World Cup, shared in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport his big ambitions for the present and the future. The Dutch team finished the group stage at the top of the group and are now heading towards the knockout stages with great confidence. "We are in good form, we played a good group stage and the team continues to grow," said Malen, while also being aware of the difficulties the next opponent will bring: "Morocco are a difficult opponent, but at this stage of the tournament, everyone is. We will be ready."
On a personal front, the former PSV striker admitted that he needs to adjust to the head coach's demands: "I like to play in the center position, but if the coach needs me on the right, I will be ready. The important thing is to play." There is no jealousy towards Brian Brobbey's excellent performance: "I know him well, he is an excellent striker and deserves this moment."
Speaking about Roma, Malen insisted there were no doubts about his decision to move here in January: "The conversation with Gasperini was a key decision. He promised me a central role in attack and I am very happy to be here. The welcome was great and I fitted in immediately." After 14 goals scored in half a season and a return to the Champions League, the Dutchman is ready to look to the future: "We want to win a title with Roma. As for the Netherlands, we went to the United States to try to win the world cup."
