Eric García: "I think Flick is lying to us and knows what we're saying"

Eric García had an interview with RAC1 and said he did not expect to be called up to the national team, but was very excited about this opportunity. The Catalan player expressed his joy and said that the past week had been very long for him.

Besides, García also made no secret of his desire to become Barcelona's captain one day and joked that Coach Flick understands Spanish very well.

Regarding being called up, García shared: "I didn't expect it. Obviously I was very excited, but not completely sure. I heard the news when the video was released, no one called first. I knew when I was working with the physical trainer. I hugged him tightly and talked to my parents."

When asked about not having any Real Madrid players in the squad, he said: "In the end, Gerard had a good season, Bernal came to train with us... we have a big base of players who can join Spain. That is an achievement for us and for the club."

García also shared about his dream of becoming Barcelona captain: "Everyone would be happy to become captain. I have been captain at youth levels. It doesn't have to be sought, it comes naturally according to each person's personality."

Regarding mental health, he said: "Three or four years ago, I started seeing a psychologist because we are no different from normal people and in the end, you know when you're playing well or not. There's no need to read the newspaper. But when there's disrespect or they criticize your family... that's when you really suffer the most. From the beginning, I was calm about everything."

When asked about coach Flick speaking Spanish, García said: "I think he is lying to us and knows what we are saying (laughs). They have a strong personality when it comes to showing off and, when they do it in another language, it adds a special element."

Finally, he shared: "This week has been very long for me."
