Feyenoord chose stability and partly Arne Slot

Giovanni van Bronckhorst returned to De Kuip with Sipke Hulshoff. Both were members of Arne Slot's coaching staff at Liverpool last season. Of course, new technical director Dévy Rigaux hopes there will be a bit of a Slot element, but his choice is also mainly to ensure stability.

When a king passes away, a new king takes the throne. On Thursday morning, the portrait of Robin van Persie was taken down from the wall in Feyenoord's press room and was hung in a different, smaller and gray location, accompanied by all the club's previous managers. The large and colorful portrait now belongs to Giovanni van Bronckhorst. In fact, his portrait has been near Van Persie since before and after his tenure at De Kuip, from 2015 to 2019.

For Gio, going to the podium and standing in front of a room full of reporters is familiar. However, he didn't see many familiar faces. Everyone seems to be in the United States preparing for the World Cup.

"We didn't appoint them just because we thought we would create an Arne Slot element" — Dévy Rigaux.
