In an interview with Sky Sport, Gianluca Mancini expressed his pain about Italy not being able to participate in the World Cup for the third time in a row. He recalls the crucial moment at Zenica, where Alessandro Bastoni was sent off, leading to problems for the team in the match against Bosnia. Mancini said: "I can't watch the World Cup matches. It's a pain, it's too painful. I only watch the recaps but can't follow the matches, it's difficult not being there. If we can't qualify in three attempts, it's not just a problem for the young players or the coaches. The problem is bigger, and hopefully we will solve it in the coming years." Finally, he also talked about the Champions League with Roma: "After the match in Verona, when I hugged Cristante, I thought about this. I imagined stadiums, melodies that I had never heard in my career. It's great to just imagine and I can't wait to play in this tournament. I'm very happy and enjoy the last days of the holiday, then will think about preparing for the new season with lofty goals."
