Mexico goalkeeper Guilermo Ochoa has confirmed that he will officially retire after participating in the 2026 World Cup. At the age of 40, Ochoa, who played for AEL in Cyprus during the 2025/2026 season, will be part of Mexico's squad at his sixth World Cup appearance.
Ochoa announced his decision to retire after reading a letter from his daughter Luciana. He shared: "The Mexican team has always been the direction and guideline in my career and life. I cannot imagine my career without the national team. I don't know what it would be like without the team. When my time with the team came to an end, I no longer saw any reason to continue playing football. I have enjoyed every moment here. I have given everything on the field.
