Habib Beye acknowledged the solidarity of Marseille players when he parted ways with the team after being sacked this week. Beye, who was sacked by Rennes in February, joined Marseille to replace Roberto De Zerbi, who moved to Tottenham. During his time as coach at Marseille, Beye only led the team in 13 matches, winning 6 matches (2 draws, 5 losses). His team conceded 18 goals and scored just seven, leaving Marseille falling from fourth to fifth place and 17 points behind Paris Saint-Germain. Despite qualifying for next season's Europa League, Beye was sacked on Tuesday, and Marseille appointed Bruno Genesio as his successor.

"Being coach of Olympique de Marseille is a real honor," Beye shared on social networks. "I want to thank you, the fans, for your passion and support. Thank you to all the staff of the club with whom I have had the privilege to work, as well as the entire coaching staff for accompanying and supporting me. Especially my players, THANK YOU for remaining united until the end of this adventure."

Bruno Genesio arrives at Marseille after two successful seasons with Lille, leading the team to third place in Ligue 1 in the 2025-26 season and a place in the Champions League. This will be the fourth Ligue 1 team that Genesio leads, after Lyon and Rennes. He directed 299 matches in France's top league, winning 160 matches (draw 60, lose 79), with a win rate of 53.5%.

"I chose to join Olympique de Marseille because I was attracted by the challenge I was given," Genesio said. "OM is a unique club, with an exceptional history, strong identity and passionate fans recognized beyond its borders. I am delighted to be involved in this new project. I would like to thank Frank McCourt, Stephane Richard and Gregory Lorenzi for their trust. I look forward to working with all the club's staff and players to build a team worthy of the ambitions of Olympique de Marseille."

Marseille will begin their 2026-27 Ligue 1 campaign at home against Strasbourg on August 22. They will face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in Le Classique on September 20.
