Norwich defender Córdova heads to the Premier League
Jose Cordova, after making his debut at the World Cup, sets his sights on a career in the Premier League and Champions League, and shares his experiences and challenges in top football.

Jose Cordova, defender of Norwich City, just made his debut at the World Cup and is aiming to debut in the Premier League and Champions League in the near future. After an uneventful debut season in England, the 25-year-old showed excellent form under coach Philippe Clement in the second half of last season, with many eye-catching performances.
Córdova, with his left-footed playing style, is seen as an attractive option for top teams if he maintains his good form in the Championship next season. Ahead of Panama's second match in Group L against Croatia early Wednesday morning UK time, Córdova opened up about her lofty career ambitions.
"As you know, I'm here with the (North American) team, focusing on a dream World Cup debut, and that's definitely one of the dreams that's at the top of my list," he said on his personal YouTube channel.
Córdova hopes to get the chance to make her Premier League debut and play in the Champions League, saying: "I still have unfulfilled dreams. I know I will do everything I can to realize them."

The defender has faced top-flight opposition three times during his time at Carrow Road, coming up against Leeds United in the FA Cup last season and Crystal Palace and Brighton in cup competitions in the 2024/25 season. However, Córdova admits that Brighton, under the direction of Fabian Hurzeler, are one of the toughest opponents he has ever faced.
"At national and club level, it's difficult to choose a team. But one of the toughest opponents, in my opinion, was Brighton. I don't remember if it was the FA Cup or the Carabao Cup, but it was a very complicated match. This team was very strong and really surprised me with the difference in player level in that match."
After facing Manchester City's Antoine Semenyo in his World Cup debut and England's Harry Kane next Saturday, Córdova said he was working to cope with the pressure. "There really is a lot of pressure in football. You don't realize it right away, but there really is a lot of pressure. Psychology has helped me a lot in working with my psychologist. I think it's very important to stay focused and have a lot of information in your head."
Córdova said that it is important to face matches in a good frame of mind with teammates and not to have conflicts in decisive moments. "Pressure is something you have to work on and if you start working on it from a very young age, all the better."
