Sunderland defender Jess Brown signs new contract
Sunderland defender Jess Brown has officially extended her contract for another year, continuing with the club she has served since 2014.
Sunderland defender Jess Brown has signed a new one-year contract with the club. Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official website today.
The 22-year-old is Sunderland's longest-serving player. She joined their Regional Talent Club (RTC) in 2014 before progressing to the first team. Brown made 144 appearances for Sunderland in all competitions and scored six goals.

Brown had the opportunity to play for Sunderland during their spell in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division and she helped the club gain promotion to Barclays WSL2 through the 'move the club up' process at the end of the COVID pandemic. The defender continued to develop in the second tier and was part of the Sunderland team that narrowly missed promotion to the top tier in the 2023/2024 season.
Brown is completely loyal to Sunderland and she will now represent the club for at least another year. After renewing his contract with Sunderland, Brown said: "I'm delighted to be extending my contract with the club for another year. Sunderland has become my home, and the support I've received from everyone at the club, especially from the fans, has meant a lot to me and my family. Representing this club is a privilege that I never take lightly. I can't wait to continue to give everything for the club's logo, and I'm very excited." Looking forward to next season."
In other news, striker Eleanor Dale has left Sunderland. The club offered her a new contract but she chose a new challenge.
