Ipswich Town have reached an agreement in principle to sign 22-year-old Julio Enciso from the Strasbourg club. Enciso joined Strasbourg from Brighton & Hove Albion in September 2025 and scored 12 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions last season. Previously, this Paraguayan player had a loan period at Ipswich during the second half of the 2024-25 season, when the team was relegated under the guidance of coach Kieran McKenna.
Under McKenna's leadership, Ipswich returned to the Premier League at their first promotion, after finishing the previous season in second place in the Championship. However, McKenna left his position as coach and was replaced by Gary O'Neil, former Strasbourg coach, who worked with Enciso last year.
Any deal remains contingent on reaching a final agreement and Enciso undergoing a medical examination. If the deal is completed, Enciso will become the promoted club's eleventh summer signing, following a string of other impressive signings such as Issa Diop and Sasa Lukic from Fulham, attacker Emersonn from Toulouse, and former Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu.
The recruitment of Julio Enciso will be an important addition to Ipswich's squad, as they are trying to strengthen themselves for the new season in the Premier League. This player is expected to bring valuable values and experience from previous seasons, especially after having the opportunity to play at the recent World Cup for the Paraguay team. Enciso's return will be expected by fans, as he previously impressed in a short time at Ipswich.
What happens next
This deal still needs to reach a final agreement and Enciso will have to undergo a medical examination. If everything goes well, he will become Ipswich's eleventh signing this summer, contributing to strengthening the newly promoted team.
