Jürgen Klopp Reacts to Rumors About Germany's Coaching Position After Defeat at the World Cup
Jürgen Klopp has spoken out about rumors about becoming Germany coach following the World Cup round of 32 defeat to Paraguay, criticizing the team's performance and calling for structural reforms in German football.

Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has responded to speculation that he will take over as Germany coach after the team were eliminated from the World Cup by Paraguay. At 59 years old, Klopp affirmed that this was not the right time to discuss replacing Julian Nagelsmann, strongly criticizing the team's performance and calling for fundamental system reform.
The German team experienced a major sporting disaster when they were eliminated from the tournament by a team ranked 31 places lower. Despite making a record 55 passes, Nagelsmann's team lacked sharpness and only got one equalizer from Kai Havertz in the second half, before having to enter a tense penalty shootout and lose.
Appearing on Magenta TV, Klopp was asked if he would consider returning to the coaching bench to save his team. He said: "I have never thought about that. I understand that when the position of national coach is discussed, my name may be mentioned. But this is not the time to talk about that. I have a job that I really like. As far as I know, this is not a part-time job."

Although Nagelsmann is still under contract until 2028, Germany's difficulties in breaking down Paraguay's stubborn defense has caused much debate domestically. Klopp pointed out a lack of execution from the team's creative talent, and suggested that the German Football Federation (DFB) needs a completely new development philosophy from top to bottom. Klopp emphasized: "You have to attack from both sides. There is no other choice. We all know how well these players can play, but they don't show it on the field. In three months, we will again praise Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala for their excellence, but not now."
"Paraguay had the chance to achieve something, while Germany was under pressure to achieve something. Everyone in the stadium thought: Now they will turn the tide! But we didn't. We let them get away with it."
"We can talk about DFB. We definitely have to change some things. We can start with the U-10 teams and wait a few years to see what the results are."
Although Germany is facing a difficult investigation after this failure, pressure is increasing on the technical team and management. With the next international cycle looming, the DFB must decide whether to back Nagelsmann's long-term vision, or make immediate changes. In contrast, Paraguay advanced with great confidence into their historic round of 16 match against either France or Sweden in Philadelphia, without worrying about their reputation.
