Kylian Mbappé reached the milestone of 100 caps for the French team
Kylian Mbappé reached 100 caps for France in the 2026 World Cup group stage match against Iraq, becoming the tenth player in history to reach this milestone.
Kylian Mbappé (27 years old) officially reached the milestone of 100 caps for the French team in the 2026 World Cup group stage match against Iraq at Lincoln Field, Philadelphia. The France captain made history in the United States when he surpassed Olivier Giroud to become the top scorer for Les Bleus with 57 and 58 goals against Senegal last week. Mbappé will lead the attack in the match against Iraq to help France win tickets to the knockout round of the tournament.
Mbappé has never played for the French U21 team – Les Espoirs – and was brought into the first team by coach Didier Deschamps for the first time in March 2017 at the age of 18. He and the French team won the 2018 World Cup and 2021 Nations League, scoring in both finals. Mbappé is the tenth player in history to reach the milestone of 100 caps for the French team, standing alongside legends such as Didier Deschamps (103 times), Patrick Vieira (107), Zinédine Zidane (108), Marcel Desailly (116), Thierry Henry (123), Antoine Griezmann (137), Olivier Giroud (137), Lilian Thuram (142) and Hugo Lloris (145). With his current age and ability, Mbappé could become the player with the most caps for France, certainly if he plans to play until he is 80 years old just to "prove the critics."
