Lionel Messi, Argentine football star, has just completed the acquisition of CD Eldense club, a team playing in the Spanish second division. This transaction is still awaiting approval from authorities, but this is the second Spanish club that Messi has invested in, after he bought Cornella club last April.
According to an announcement from CD Eldense on their official website, "Eldense Sports Club officially announces the acquisition of the club by Leo Messi, marking the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in the club's more than 100-year history". Currently, CD Eldense is ranked 19th out of 22 teams in the Spanish second division, with a record of only one win and 5 points after the first 7 matches of the season.
Messi, who won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, is currently playing for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer in the US. He announced his retirement from international football last August. One of the best players in football history, Messi scored 672 goals in 778 matches for Barcelona before moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, and joining Inter Miami in 2023.
