Liverpool signed defender Mari Ward from Bristol City

Liverpool have completed the signing of defender Mari Ward from Bristol City. This news was confirmed through an official statement from The Reds this morning. The 20-year-old player joined Liverpool after ending his contract with Bristol City. Ward began her professional career in the FA Women's National League with Plymouth Argyle before joining Bristol City in the summer of 2022. She was part of the Bristol City squad that won the 2022/2023 Barclays WSL2 Championship and was involved in the top-flight squad the following season. In total, Ward made 86 appearances for Bristol City in all competitions, scoring six goals. On the international stage, Ward has represented England at various youth levels up to under-23 level. After joining Liverpool, Ward said: "I'm very excited, Liverpool is a big club with a great history, so being a Liverpool player is really special. I'm an attacking defender, like to get involved in attack and back in defense, I like to create chances and get involved in attacks. I hope to learn a lot from the good players and coaching staff around me, and try to show my abilities on the field and reach my potential. I can't wait to wear the Liverpool shirt for the first time, it will be very special. And when I step onto the field as a Liverpool player, I still can't believe it, so I'm looking forward to that moment." Ward is Liverpool's third signing in this summer transfer window.
