Manchester City are not looking for more strikers this summer
Manchester City are focusing on strengthening other positions in the squad and have no intention of replacing striker Omar Marmoush, who is expected to continue with the club.
Manchester City have no plans to look for another striker this summer. The rich side will focus on strengthening several areas of the squad, including two midfielders, a right-back and another winger. Additionally, they could also be looking for a new back-up goalkeeper, as James Trafford is likely to leave the club this summer.
Before that, there was a possibility that the reigning FA Cup and Carabao Cup champions would look for another striker if Omar Marmoush left this summer. However, a new report suggests that Marmoush will not leave Manchester City, as the team has no intention of looking for another striker to replace Erling Haaland.
Simon Bajkowski has provided an update to Manchester Evening News on Manchester City's intentions for this summer's transfer window. According to Bajkowski's report, Manchester City are not actively looking for a replacement for Omar Marmoush. Instead, the team is focusing on strengthening other positions in the squad.
Based on Bajkowski's report, it seems highly likely that Omar Marmoush will remain at City next season. Change is only possible if Marmoush requests a transfer and brings a reasonable offer to City. A change of coach at City could provide Omar Marmoush with more opportunities.
The 2025-26 season has been a difficult experience for Omar Marmoush. He suffered a knee injury in the early part of the season and also missed a month last season due to participating in AFCON with the Egyptian team. Marmoush made 36 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 8 goals and 3 assists. However, his position in the Manchester City squad is mainly as a substitute for Erling Haaland, instead of being a regular starter. It was rare to see Pep Guardiola use both Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush at the same time last season. At the end of the 2025-26 season, Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo became City's preferred options on the wings.
Marmoush could have played on the left wing but was not given that opportunity. Maybe Enzo Maresca, when he takes over as Manchester City manager, will find a consistent role for Omar Marmoush. This remains to be seen. However, a new coach gives Marmoush a new opportunity and it will be interesting to see whether he seizes this opportunity. Manchester City have no plans to look for another striker this summer. Simon Bajkowski's report suggests City are looking to strengthen other areas of the squad. At the same time, the report also shows that there is a high possibility that Omar Marmoush will not leave and will have a role in the reigning FA Cup and Carabao Cup champions' squad next season.
