Monaco Club has just officially announced the appointment of Filipe Luis as head coach, signing a contract until June 2028. This is an important step for this team after the significant success that Filipe Luis achieved when leading Flamengo in Brazil.Filipe Luis, 40, has had an impressive coaching career at Flamengo, where he has won many important titles including the 2024 Brazilian Cup, 2025 Brazilian Super Cup, 2025 Carioca Championship, 2025 Brasileirão and especially the 2025 Copa Libertadores. During his time at Flamengo, he led the team to 62 wins, 21 draws. and only 16 defeats, ending with the title of best coach in South America in 2025.

Before taking over as Flamengo's first team coach, Filipe Luis began his coaching career with the club's youth team, where he won the U20 Intercontinental Cup. His football career is also very impressive. Filipe Luis made 333 appearances for Atletico Madrid under the guidance of Diego Simeone, winning one La Liga, one Copa del Rey and two Europa Leagues. He also played for Chelsea under coach José Mourinho, winning the Premier League title in 2015, before ending his playing career at Flamengo, adding two Copa Libertadores.
With the Brazilian team, Filipe Luis has made 44 appearances, winning the Confederations Cup in 2013 and the Copa América in 2019. At Monaco, he will be supported by long-time colleagues such as Ivan Palanco (assistant coach), Diogo Linhares (fitness coach), along with Antony Santiago and goalkeeper coach Jyri Nieminen. After completing the team's fitness and medical tests, Filipe Luis will lead the first training session on Wednesday morning at Monaco's Sports Center.
