Nagelsmann supports Tuchel: 'They even took my nose hair'
Julian Nagelsmann expressed his agreement with Thomas Tuchel about photographers standing too close to players during the national anthem before the start of the match.
Julian Nagelsmann has joined Thomas Tuchel in criticizing FIFA's new rules on national anthems before World Cup matches. The German team coach expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that there were too many photographers standing between the training area and the players. Tuchel had previously complained that during the England national anthem he could not see his players because they were obscured by a line of photographers in front of the technical area. After the 2-1 win against Ivory Coast, Nagelsmann shared his disappointment: "I agree with Thomas Tuchel. The national anthem is an emotional moment, an opportunity to feel a connection with the player. However, the photographer stood so close that I felt their giant lenses could capture my nose hair from a meter away." According to Nagelsmann, the problem was not the timing of the players gathering around the center of the field, but the location of the photographers. Tuchel also called on FIFA to change this. "I couldn't see any of the players, and I was looking forward to that moment," the England coach previously shared. FIFA has confirmed that procedures will be adjusted so that coaches can see their players during the national anthem.
