Nico Dijkshoorn looks back at moments at the World Cup: Kids, Klopp and Legends
Nico Dijkshoorn shared his deep emotions when seeing children and football players step onto the field during the World Cup.

Every time I see kids walking onto the field with soccer players, I can't help but get emotional. It's magical when I forget about the stars standing next to the children and only hear the parents' calls echoing in my head. It was a wonderful moment. When the announcement was made that the children had been chosen to join the famous players on the field, joy was overwhelming. They hugged their parents, saying: 'Mom, you were right. It's great to have you signed up!' Then there were the non-stop instructions. Do not hug players, do not wave to parents, do not talk to players, and try to follow the rhythm of the music. When a camera passes by, don't make ugly faces, act like you're buying a nice gift for your mother. Keep your hands at your sides, don't pick your nose, don't dance, don't make heart shapes with your hands. There are many things not to do. That's what makes me emotional. It is pride but also somewhat restrained. It was the feeling of being chosen and in that moment, they felt the feeling that a famous player always has: blind admiration without ever creating any achievements. When I have negative thoughts, I look from left to right and hear a FIFA employee say: 'The boy with the Harry Potter glasses. Make sure he doesn't mess up his hair. Second person from the right: light hair and different length from the Potter boy. Then there's a little girl with red hair, if there's one, let her in. Next to it was a very tall but somewhat shy girl looking around, and the boy was very surprised. Tell him to keep his hands at his sides.’ Every time I see children standing in line waiting for the players, I think about sixty years into the future. They will sit there, behind a table of overcooked vegetables in a nursing home. For the hundredth time, the boy standing on the right will say: 'I don't wear glasses. But I have to wear it. Actually no glasses. But still the best day!’ This story is excerpted from VI weekly magazine.
