The German U19 team won a ticket to the semi-finals of the European Championship and a place

The German U19 team, under the guidance of coach Christian Wörns, excellently won a ticket to the semi-finals of the 2026 European U19 Championship taking place in Wales, and also received a place in the 2027 U20 World Cup. This success was guaranteed even though the team suffered a heavy 0-4 defeat to the Spain U19 team in the final match in Group A.

Previously, the team started the tournament with a dramatic 4-3 win over Denmark, followed by a convincing 4-0 victory over home team Wales at Wrexham. With these results, the German team finished the group stage in second place and advanced straight to the knockout round.


By reaching the semi-finals, the German U19 team accomplished their main goal. More importantly, qualifying for the semi-finals also means that this team will be present at the U20 World Championship that will take place next year in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. This is a worthy reward for the efforts of young players.

Prominent in the team's success is the attacking pair, led by captain Francis Onyeka. This player has just joined SV Elversberg on loan from Bayer Leverkusen and has made important contributions to the team. Besides, young talent Otto Stange from Hamburg also scored three important goals in the group stage, confirming his progress.

Stange was also loaned to Elversberg last season until February, showing the strong development of this club in training the top talents of German football. Now, the German U19 team looks to next Wednesday's semi-final against the Ukraine U19 team, determined to win the continental championship for the first time since 2014.
