Criticizing and praising Ronaldo after his record at the World Cup
After setting a record at the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo received criticism and praise from the Portuguese press, including views from former teammate Rio Ferdinand.
The Portuguese press responded to Cristiano Ronaldo's performance against Uzbekistan, along with his World Cup scoring record. A Bola newspaper said that although Ronaldo has scored goals and set records, he still does not receive the respect he deserves in his homeland.
Ronaldo, after the match against Uzbekistan, became the only player to score in six different World Cups. Meanwhile, former teammate Rio Ferdinand also expressed support for Ronaldo on social networks, emphasizing that no one can doubt the ability of a player who is approaching the 1,000-goal mark.
Ferdinand said: "How can you doubt such a player? Criticism of Ronaldo is unfair, and criticizing him as a bad guy is out of the question. We should enjoy what Ronaldo has done and stop criticizing him!"
Previously, Ronaldo was criticized after the match against DR Congo, and many people said that criticizing him was a Portuguese tradition. A Bola emphasized that criticizing Ronaldo must be different from seriously discussing his role in the squad. Other major Portuguese newspapers such as O Jogo and Record also recognized Ronaldo's achievements with praise.
