Why this is important
Rafael Leao, one of Galatasaray SK's notable signings, is under great pressure to prove his value in this Liga Pro season. Leao's improvement in form could have a big impact on Galatasaray's season, especially as they aim for the Champions League.

- Rafael Leao genera buenas sensaciones antes de jugar contra el Barça.
Rafael Leao, 27 years old, is one of the most notable signings in Galatasaray's recent summer transfer window. He became the third most expensive player in the transfer history of Turkish football with a price of 38 million euros. Leao joined Galatasaray on August 30, right when the season started, in the context of the team leading the rankings thanks to the goal-scoring index. Fans expect Leao to be the decisive factor to help the team advance further in the Champions League. However, concerns arose when he has not scored a goal or had any assists after the first five matches.
Leao arrived in Türkiye with unstable form, when during his time at AC Milan, he only scored 10 goals and 3 assists - this is his worst performance since the 2020/21 season. This has made the Portuguese player think about the possibility of leaving Milan. "I talked to the club about the possibility of trying a new experience, but I didn't know what would happen," Leao shared.
Galatasaray signed with Leao in the context that he had just suffered a slight thigh injury, an injury he had suffered 11 times. Injury recently forced him to miss the match against Göztepe and the first two matches of the season while at AC Milan. Despite not having any goals or assists yet, Leao had an impressive performance against Kasımpasa, playing 67 minutes, being the player who created the most breakthroughs with 5 successful passes. He also made 2 decisive passes and had 2 shots towards goal.
Although he hasn't regained the feeling of scoring, confidence is gradually returning to Leao. Notably, FC Barcelona considered recruiting Rafael Leao in August 2024, after Nico Williams extended his contract with Athletic Club, as information from MD. Leao was considered a plan B, but the deal failed due to problems with La Liga's Financial Fairness regulations. Currently, in Türkiye, Leao is not yet the star of the team, but he has made defenders like Eric Garcia and Koundé pay attention, because in the match against Kasımpasa, he caused difficulties for the opponent's defense and if he has a good day, Leao can make a big difference.
What happens next
Leao will need to quickly find his scoring form before Galatasaray faces FC Barcelona in an important match. Fans and the coaching staff expect him to become a decisive factor, helping the team maintain the leading position in Liga Pro. If Leao continues to show improvement, he could become an indispensable part of Galatasaray's squad in upcoming matches.
