According to sources from gazzetta.it, Ralf Rangnick decided to decline the invitation from AC Milan due to the delay in decision-making by the board of directors. Rangnick is known as a famous strategist and was open to taking on the role of leading Milan's sports project, but his request was to have full decision-making authority and no outside interference. He proposed bringing trusted associates like Glasner or Jaissle to the coaching staff, along with Johannes Spors as sporting director and Christopher Vivell, who was in charge of scouting at Manchester United. However, Milan listened to the conditions without making a final decision. Meanwhile, the Austrian Football Federation has always expressed confidence in keeping Rangnick as head coach of the national team in the period leading up to Euro 2028.
Rangnick's rejection of AC Milan could lead to a change in management and could affect the coaching position, with Oliver Glasner possibly being considered. This is reminiscent of 2020, when Rangnick almost reached an agreement with Milan in the context of the team being owned by the Elliott fund. At that time, everything was almost complete, but in the end Milan decided not to continue after reviewing the team's results under the guidance of Stefano Pioli, who stayed to command the team.
