Sampdoria is preparing to offer a contract to former Napoli and Italy star Insigne
Sampdoria are looking to sign Lorenzo Insigne on a free transfer following his spell at Pescara, where he scored five goals in 13 games.
Reports in Italy say Serie B side Sampdoria are eyeing a potential deal for former Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne on a free transfer after his recent experience in the Italian second division with Pescara. Insigne returned to play in Italy earlier this year after three years in MLS with Toronto FC, joining Pescara on a short-term contract until the end of the 2025-26 season in January. The diminutive star, who turned 35 in early June, has scored five goals in 13 appearances, but that was not enough for Pescara to avoid relegation to Serie C at the end of the 2025-26 season. Insigne is now a free agent after his contract with Pescara expired on June 30, and latest reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Sampdoria are interested in signing the former Napoli star for the 2026-27 season. Sampdoria is prepared to offer the 54-year-old Italian international a one-year contract with an option to extend for a further 12 months. La Gazzetta dello Sport also said there could be another option in Greece, specifically with Iraklis FC, a team led by Insigne's former coach at Napoli, Walter Mazzarri. The Thessaloniki side have been promoted to Greece's top flight after winning Super League 2 in the 2025-26 season.
