Southend United have completed the signing of midfielder Lewys Twamley from Merthyr Town for a two-year period, after he had impressive performances in the National League North.

Southend United have signed midfielder Lewys Twamley from Merthyr Town on a two-year contract, which includes the option of a further year. The 22-year-old scored 16 goals in 46 appearances in the National League North last season. The former Wales U19 international started his career at Newport County. The team's manager, Kieron Dyer, told the club's website: "Lewys has had an outstanding season. For any player to achieve more than 30 goal involvements in a season is truly amazing."
