Stephen Welsh is eager to join Swansea City
Stephen Welsh has expressed his excitement at joining Swansea City, highlighting the strong interest of the club and the positive vision of the head coach.
Stephen Welsh says Swansea City "really want me" after he agreed to join the Championship club from Celtic, following a second season on loan at Motherwell. The 26-year-old defender will join Wales on a two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months on July 1, after agreeing to terminate his contract at Celtic Park. Welsh made a total of 31 appearances last season, including two for Celtic between loan spells at Motherwell. He scored one goal and six goals in total in over 100 appearances for the club. He was also called up to the Scotland U21 team. "I'm delighted to be joining Swansea, this is a great club with a proud history," said Welsh. "They made it clear that they really wanted me and with the way the head coach (Witor Matos) talked about the club, the environment he wanted to create and the way he wanted to play, it wasn't a difficult decision."
