Swansea City appoint Ben Stevens as sporting director

Swansea City have officially appointed Ben Stevens as their new sporting director. Previously, Stevens held the position of assistant sporting director at Crystal Palace from 2024, after spending more than a decade at the Premier League club as head of recruitment and performance analysis. He worked under former sporting director Dougie Freedman and took over on an interim basis when Freedman left the club to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Diriyah last year.

Swansea have been searching for a sporting director since director of football Richard Montague left the club last September, just seven months after he joined. Former head of recruitment and analytics Adam Worth also left in April this year. Stevens, who will take up the role on July 10, said: "With experience of working in a variety of roles at a variety of clubs over the past 20 years, I believe I have what it takes to help maximize the club's potential. I believe in the project at Swansea City and the club has huge potential. I'm excited at the prospect of bringing everyone together on this journey to help us achieve future success."

Swansea chief executive Tom Gorringe said: "The club only planned to make such an appointment if we felt there was a suitable candidate for Swansea City.
