Return of the hero: River Plate wants to bring back the Colombian star
River Plate is in the process of negotiating to bring striker Rafael Santos Borré back, when coach Eduardo Coudet expressed his desire to add him to the squad. Borré had a decent season in Brazil, but was not called up for the World Cup.
River Plate is constantly active in the transfer market. While the team conducted its pre-season in Alicante, Spain, the club's leadership began formal negotiations to bring back a familiar name loved by fans: Colombian striker Rafael Santos Borré.
The head coach of the Núñez football team, Eduardo Coudet, directly contacted this player to express his desire to include him in the team's sports project. The striker, who worked with “Chacho” for four months at Inter Porto Alegre in early 2024, gave a positive response that excited the whole River Plate world.
Borré has just spent half an average season in Brazil, scoring nine goals in 28 matches, although he was not called up for the 2026 World Cup due to a tactical decision by Néstor Lorenzo.
As for Inter Porto Alegre, unlike in previous transfer windows, the board has shown openness to negotiating the player's release, despite the fact that his contract runs until the end of 2028. Now, the offices at Núñez will have to work to build a financial structure to complete the deal: the most feasible option is to agree to a loan with a fee and an option or obligation to buy.
