According to the Sky Germany Transfer Update program, Ermedin Demirovic's future at VfB Stuttgart is becoming the focus of internal debate, with interest from big teams such as Juventus, Fenerbahçe and Leeds United. Coach Sebastian Hoeneß seems to be open to the possibility of selling the 28-year-old striker, however, Stuttgart's management team has a different opinion.
Currently, Stuttgart is planning with a three-striker attack scheme, including Demirovic, Deniz Undav and young talent Dzenan Pejcinovic from Wolfsburg. Pejcinovic has agreed personal terms, but the two clubs have not yet completed the transfer. Jeremy Arevalo is expected to be a development option, while Jovan Milosevic could still leave.
Demirovic attracted attention from the Premier League during his time at Stuttgart. According to previous reports of Leeds' pursuit, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international scored 17 goals in all competitions in his first season after moving from Augsburg for around 23 million euros. He also scored his first hat-trick in the Bundesliga in a 4-0 win over Bochum.
Entering last season, Demirovic was considered third choice, behind Undav and Nick Woltemade. However, Woltemade's move to Newcastle and Undav's injury gave Demirovic the opportunity to play more. He responded by scoring three goals and two assists in six consecutive Bundesliga matches before suffering a serious leg injury.
Demirovic returned in January and scored in a comeback win against Eintracht Frankfurt. In the end, he scored 12 goals and provided three assists in the 2025/26 season, confirming his worth despite being out of action for a long time. Therefore, Stuttgart currently has no urgent need to sell this player. An attractive offer could make Hoeneß and the club consider it, but Demirovic's wishes and the board's confidence in the player make a departure uncertain.
What happens next
VfB Stuttgart is currently planning an attacking scheme with three strikers, including Demirovic, Deniz Undav and Dzenan Pejcinovic. If Demirovic leaves, Stuttgart may have to adjust their transfer plans and look for suitable alternatives to maintain their offensive strength.
