Video: Cristiano Ronaldo reveals what he said to Modric after Portugal's victory over Croatia
Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his admiration for Luka Modric after Portugal's victory over Croatia in the 1/8 round of the World Cup, emphasizing Modric's long-standing friendship and legacy in football.

Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed what he said to his former Real Madrid teammate, Luka Modric, after Portugal defeated Croatia in the round of 16 of the World Cup with a score of 2-1. Ronaldo scored the equalizer from the penalty spot in the second half, while new AC Milan signing Gonçalo Ramos scored the winner from a pass from Rafael Leao. Portugal will face Spain in the round of 16 next Monday, while Modric made his final World Cup appearance yesterday. "I played with Luka for many years; we are almost the same age," Ronaldo, a former Juventus player, told Fox Sports after the match. "I think he's a legend of football; he's still a legend of football while still doing very well. With his high qualities, it's unbelievable. I just told him many times, 'Luka, congratulations on everything, I'm happy to see you again, wish you all the best in the coming years of your career. It's great to play with him again.'" Modric is currently without a club after his contract with AC Milan expired on June 30, but new Rossoneri coach Ruben Amorim is expected to speak to the Croatia star in the coming days to find out whether he wants to play another season at San Siro. Ronaldo also added: "I hope he [Modric] continues to play."
