Fiorentina made a shock signing of central defender Viery from Gremio for 15 million euros, becoming the third most expensive player in Brasileirão history. This decision by Fabio Paratici is considered a starting step for the revolution in Fiorentina. Viery is expected to be in Florence early next week to undergo medical tests and sign a new contract with the team, which has a term of 5 years and will expire in June 2031. This move shows that Fiorentina quickly eliminated other rivals, including Juventus, to complete the deal. To get Viery, Paratici decided to negotiate directly with Gremio, ignoring the player's contract release clause of up to 50 million euros. The deal with Gremio was reached for a fixed portion of 15 million euros, with a potential 2 million euros bonus, which could total up to 17 million euros.
