World Cup 2026: Jordan Henderson injured his wrist while eating
England midfielder Jordan Henderson just suffered a serious wrist injury while celebrating the team's victory in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup against Mexico. Coach Thomas Tuchel announced this information in the post-match press conference. Henderson had an unfortunate fall when he fell off the advertising fence at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City after England's 3-2 win. Pictures show him being taken off the field on a stretcher.Previously, the 36-year-old Brentford player only had one appearance on the field in the last 6 minutes of the match when England beat Panama in the group stage. Coach Tuchel shared: "Jordan [Henderson] fell and injured his wrist. The injury looks very serious." He also emphasized that: "It is a serious injury and does not fit with the happy atmosphere of the evening, when Jordan is no longer with us. The doctor informed me that he is in the hospital."

Henderson is currently being accompanied by a member of England's support staff and will not return to the squad today. England's next match will be the quarter-final against Norway in Miami at 22:00 BST next Saturday, which will be broadcast on BBC Radio 5 Live and the BBC Sport website and app.
Henderson is likely to be ruled out along with Reece James, who also suffered a hamstring injury in England's opening match. Player Jarell Quansah will not be present in the next match after receiving a direct red card in the win against Mexico. The absence of pillars like Henderson and James will certainly greatly affect the strength of the England team in upcoming matches at this major tournament.
