Yamal: "I feel good, but not ready to play the full 90 minutes"
Spain's youngster Lamine Yamal said he needs more time to fully recover before the match against Saudi Arabia, although he feels fine now.
Spain is preparing for the decisive match with Saudi Arabia after an unfortunate draw with Cape Verde, but coach Luis de la Fuente still needs to be careful in managing Lamine Yamal's health. The youngster from Barcelona, who recently returned from injury, expressed caution in an interview with RTVE. "I feel good and healthy, but it's still too early. I need some time to adapt and don't think this is the time to play the full 90 minutes. However, I can contribute in the minutes the coach feels necessary," Yamal shared. He also spoke about the difficulties in recovering from injury: "When you are at the end of the season, any physical problem makes you worry about both the World Cup and your club. Luckily the doctors made sure I was ready and now I am happy to be here." Yamal also praised teammate Nico Williams: "Physically, he is even better than me. We don't need to rush, this team has many high-quality players." When asked about comparisons with stars like Messi, Mbappé and Kane, Yamal affirmed his philosophy: "I don't live with an obsession for goals. I just want to enjoy and win. I'm not interested in scoring a lot of goals and then being eliminated from the tournament." Finally, he respected Leo Messi: "Every match he proves himself to be the best player in history. My idol is Neymar, but Messi is number one." Regarding the possibility of facing Argentina, Yamal emphasized: "To win the World Cup, you have to overcome the best teams. We are Spain and want to face them."
