Goncalo Feio recently caused a stir when he announced that he wanted to become the coach of the Polish team. This statement attracted the attention of many people, including Zbigniew Boniek, a famous former player and also a famous figure in Polish football. Boniek does not hesitate to say that Feio is an example of the stupidity of the Polish people.
In an interview, Feio emphasized that he believes he has the ability to lead the national team and suggested that Polish fans want this. However, Boniek disputed this idea, saying that no one was really looking for Feio for the team coach position. "Goncalo Feio is an example of our foolishness, that someone is still talking about him as a candidate for that position," he said.
Feio, who has been absent from coaching at Ekstraklasa since March this year, after being fired by Radomiak Radom, once held the coaching position at Tondela in Portugal but also lost his job when the team was relegated. Although no longer working in Poland's top league, Feio's name still frequently appears in sports news about the possibility of returning to a certain club.
When asked about leading the team, Feio expressed his excitement: "One day, I definitely want to try this role. I think there are many people who support me. Every time there is a change in the team's coaching staff, my name appears in discussions. That shows the desire of some fans and interested people in Poland."
However, Boniek pointed out that with the scandals that Feio has experienced, it is unthinkable for him to be assigned to such an important position. Boniek commented: "People want to do something without mental stability. History shows that Feio can win the first few matches but then encounter many problems and things become chaotic again."
While the question of whether Feio can become Poland's coach in the future remains open, it can be seen that Boniek has been very clear about his opinion: Feio is not the right choice for such an important position.
What happens next
While Goncalo Feio continues to express his desire to become coach of the Polish team, opposition from Boniek may reduce his chances of being considered for the position. Ekstraklasa clubs may also consider carefully before inviting Feio back, especially when he has not had significant success recently.
