Context
Toni Kroos had a brilliant career at Real Madrid, where he won many major titles and left a deep impression in the hearts of fans. His departure not only reduces the team's strength but also creates great pressure on the current players, especially Luka Modric, who has accompanied Kroos for many years.
Why this is important
The absence of Toni Kroos has left a big gap in Real Madrid's squad, affecting the team's playing style and ability to win. With impressive achievements during 10 years of competition, Kroos is not only an excellent player but also the soul of the midfield, along with Luka Modric and Casemiro to create a strong trio. The inability to replace him has made it difficult for Real Madrid to maintain high performance in La Liga.
Main point
- Ancelotti criticized Kroos' absence as the reason.
- Davide Ancelotti affirmed that the absence of Toni Kroos is the main reason for Real Madrid's difficulties in recent times.
- Real Madrid struggles inevitably after Kroos retirement, claims former assistant Ancelotti.
Davide Ancelotti, former Real Madrid assistant, pointed out that the difficulties this team has encountered in recent seasons were caused by the retirement of midfielder Toni Kroos. During his 10 years playing at Madrid, Kroos made great contributions, helping the team win 4 La Liga championships and 5 Champions League titles, a total of 22 titles in his career here. He played 465 matches for Los Blancos, scoring 28 goals and assisting 93 times, forming a strong midfield trio with Luka Modric and Casemiro.
In the past two seasons, Real Madrid failed to win any major titles under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti. This has made many fans wonder about the future of the team. Davide Ancelotti, currently leading Lille, believes that trying to replace a player like Kroos is a big mistake. He said: "I don't want everything I say about Madrid to be misunderstood as criticism, but when Modric or Kroos are present, every movement into space is followed by a pass."
He emphasized that it's not that the current players don't have that ability, but that to play in a fast attacking style, someone needs to know how to launch the ball. "Playing vertically doesn't mean just having eight players running. It also needs someone who can initiate them. It's a style of play. You lose something that you'll never get back. He's the best player in the world in his position. You can't say, 'I need another Kroos', because there's no one else like that. He's the one who controls the game. He controls the tempo. The game plays out the way he does." He decides everything and is a key player because he manages the tempo of the match.
"Inevitably, with the way Real Madrid played, losing Toni was extremely difficult. Suddenly, they lost a lot of things. This left a big mark on the team's playing style."
With Davide Ancelotti's sharing, it can be seen that the departure of Toni Kroos has left a big void that Real Madrid needs to find a way to fill if they want to return to success in the future.
What happens next
In the context that Real Madrid is looking for ways to improve its performance, finding a player with the ability to launch attacks like Kroos will become a top priority. Carlo Ancelotti and the coaching staff may have to adjust tactics to suit the current players, while also developing young talent to compensate for this shortage. Fans will wait to see if the team can come back strongly in the coming seasons.
