Avellino, Aiello talk about transfer market: "We will buy at least one striker and one attacking midfielder"

More than just the debut of Alessandro Nesta. During today's press conference, Avellino's sporting director, Mario Aiello, presented the market strategies the club is implementing for the upcoming Serie B season, with particular emphasis on finding reinforcements and attention being also given to foreign markets. "20-30% of the squad in Serie B is made up of foreign players, while in Serie A this number is up to 60-70%, so although we prioritize the domestic market, to support the home football movement, it is also reasonable for us to expand into these markets," Aiello explained.

Aiello also spoke about the player scouting work the club has done over the past months: "We watched many videos to follow European leagues, avoiding non-European players due to known restrictions. We also made several trips to observe some players in person and found some interesting names." The sporting director emphasized that the priority remains the domestic market, although surprises from abroad are not ruled out. "We always aim for the domestic market, but we cannot rule out the possibility that there may be a name from abroad, maybe a player that the coach does not know about. We have contacted many representatives to search, but everything starts from identifying the coach and tactical plan." The actual squad building starts from analyzing Nesta's existing team. "We start with the players we already have and need to strengthen, then consider what needs to be added to the team. We have conducted extensive surveys and want to keep our options secret, because revealing our ideas could affect negotiations." Finally, Aiello outlined Avellino's summer transfer market priorities: "We need at least one striker and one attacking midfielder."
