Davide Bartesaghi has expressed that he has "a lot of confidence" in AC Milan and coach Ruben Amorim, especially emphasizing the excellence of new recruits Mario Gila and Omari Hutchinson. The Rossoneri team had an unsatisfactory start under Amorim's leadership, notably losing 0-2 at home to Benfica in the Europa League. However, Milan quickly got back on track with a 3-0 win over Lecce before entering the international break.
Bartesaghi, who had just recovered from injury, returned to the field with 14 minutes of play in the match against Lecce, after which he continued to join the Italian U21 team to win tickets to the European finals. "We have a lot of faith in this team, and tomorrow will be the time when we all come together after a long time, hopefully preparing well for the upcoming matches," he told reporters during the Premio Gentleman event in Milan.
Coach Amorim started using a three-center-back system, but it seems he switched to a four-defense system in the most recent match, hoping not to make the same mistakes during his time at Manchester United. Bartesaghi said: "I feel good in both positions on the left, whether full-back or defender. We need to keep improving, because sometimes we struggle, but that's normal at the start of a new era, so we have to keep working and stay focused."
When asked about the most impressive new recruits he has seen this summer, Bartesaghi did not hesitate to praise Mario Gila. "Mario Gila is a great player, versatile and very important for our team. I also have to say Omari Hutchinson, because he is very flexible in tight spaces and can help us a lot this season," he added.
What happens next
AC Milan will need to continue their good form after the victory over Lecce to improve their position in the Serie A rankings. Bartesaghi and his teammates will return to training after the international break, preparing for important upcoming matches, where they need to show strength and solidarity.
