Edoardo Garrone could have returned to Sampdoria, where he was president, with a minority stake that previously belonged to Matteo Manfredi. According to information from Telenord, this story happened in April when the conflict between the former number one and major shareholder Joseph Tey became more tense after a long period of disagreement.

Manfredi, through his lawyer, sent a proposal to transfer his shares in Gestio Capital, representing 42%, to Garrone. However, this offer was rejected, because in May 2023 he indirectly returned to the company along with Lille owner Alessandro Barnaba. In addition, it is unlikely that Garrone, who has repeatedly stated that he has ended his direct experience in the world of football, returns to Sampdoria as a minority shareholder of an unknown investor.

A few days after this attempt, Manfredi reached an agreement with Tey to withdraw, and he resigned as chairman on April 24. Since then, Singaporean financier Joseph Tey has become the sole owner of Sampdoria with a 99.96% stake.
