Context
Fabio Paratici, as Fiorentina's sporting director, is mainly responsible for building the squad for the season. He made several transfers during the summer and is now preparing for the January transfer window, aiming to improve the team's performance in Serie A. His attention is now focused on strengthening the midfield and defense, which shows the importance of strengthening the squad to achieve season goals.
Why this is important
Fabio Paratici is trying to improve Fiorentina's squad, the team is currently in the penultimate position on the Serie A rankings. Strengthening the midfield and defense is essential to help the team have a chance to escape the dangerous area. This change not only affects Fiorentina's performance but can also reshape the future of some players on the team.
Main point
- Fiorentina, Paratici have not stopped: who can leave and.
- Fabio Paratici is attempting to strengthen Fiorentina's squad ahead of the January transfer window, with many potential departures and joinings, including Dodo and Tiago Gabriel.
- Fiorentina, Paratici non ha ancora finito: chi può uscire e chi può entrare a gennaio.
After making many transfer deals last summer, Fabio Paratici is actively preparing for the upcoming January transfer window. His goal is to make the necessary adjustments to help Fiorentina improve its performance, as the team is currently in the penultimate position on the Serie A rankings. To change the situation, Paratici is considering names that can join Artemio Franchi Stadium and players that can leave during the winter transfer window.
One of Paratici's top priorities is to strengthen the midfield, especially when Fiorentina has switched to a two-midfield system. Fabio Grosso has been demanding a player with a similar style to Matic, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one of the names being targeted. Hojbjerg was mentioned in the summer and now Marseille's need to offload their finances could facilitate a deal.
In addition to the midfield, Fiorentina's defense also needs improvement, currently the worst defense in the tournament. Tiago Gabriel is Paratici's biggest target, although the deal with Lecce is expected to face many difficulties. Besides, the goalkeeper position is also an issue that needs to be resolved. De Gea is being criticized for his poor performance, so Fiorentina may look for a reliable backup goalkeeper to support him.
As for the players potentially leaving, everything revolves around Dodo. The Brazilian defender, whose contract runs until June 2027, is likely to leave Fiorentina. However, if no deal takes place, the possibility of Dodo extending the contract cannot be ruled out. If this scenario occurs, Fiorentina will have a surplus in the full-back position, leading to the possibility of ending Joao Mario's loan contract early.
Another name that is also being noticed is Marin Pongracic, this player has been left behind in the priority order after Dragusin and has only appeared twice in the domestic tournament since the beginning of the season. These developments show that Paratici still has a lot of work to do to help Fiorentina have better results in the near future.
What happens next
Fiorentina is expected to continue looking for quality signings in the January transfer window, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Tiago Gabriel being prominent names. If the deal with Hojbjerg is successful, this could significantly improve the team's midfield. At the same time, Dodo's possible departure will also create changes in the squad, causing Paratici to consider carefully before making a final decision.
