Napoli had an excellent match, defeating Frosinone 3-0, thanks to the brilliance of Kevin De Bruyne and a new 3-4-3 strategy. This is the first match that Benoit Badiashile has played from the start, while many other players such as Costantino Favasuli, Alisson Santos, Frank Anguissa, Mathias Olivera and Alessandro Buongiorno are still recovering from injuries.
Before the match, Frosinone was leading Napoli by three points in the rankings, after a 2-0 victory over Como in the most recent match. However, Napoli showed their strength right from the beginning of the match. After just three minutes, Rasmus Hojlund almost scored when his shot hit the post from Giovanni Di Lorenzo's pass. Di Lorenzo was also on hand to stop Giorgi Kvernadze from scoring after a dangerous shot from a tight angle.
The match was dramatic when Hojlund fell in the penalty area after being pushed by Giorgio Cittadini, but VAR did not call for a penalty. However, Hojlund continued to take the free kick but was pushed away by goalkeeper Lorenzo Palmisani, and then the referee asked to take it again because the goalkeeper was in the wrong position. Kevin De Bruyne, who was appointed by coach Allegri to replace Hojlund, took advantage of the opportunity to score the opening goal.
Just a few minutes later, Di Lorenzo made a clever move and passed to Noa Lang, who easily put the ball into the empty net, increasing the score to 2-0. Lang continuously tested Palmisani with powerful shots, and David Neres also had a shot that almost scored from outside the box.
After the break, Neres continued to show impressive performance when creating a dangerous situation for Frosinone's goal. Scott McTominay also had a remarkable return after surgery and received enthusiastic cheers from the audience. However, Frosinone could not create many opportunities and had to accept defeat.
In the final minutes of the match, Alessio Zerbin had a favorable assist for De Bruyne, who scored Napoli's third goal softly into the bottom corner of the goal, closing the match with a score of 3-0. This victory helps Napoli strengthen its position in the Serie A race.
What happens next
Napoli will need to continue this form to compete for the Serie A title this season. With the return of Scott McTominay and other players, the team will likely have more flexibility and strength in the next matches, which will be important for the upcoming season.
