Context
Harry Kane, currently playing for Bayern Munich, has had an impressive international career with 87 goals in 123 matches. Kane's departure in the future will leave a big void, and finding a striker who can fill this position will be a difficult task for England.
Why this is important
Harry Kane continued to affirm his important role in the England team with his 87th goal, helping the home team win 2-0 against Czechia. Thomas Tuchel emphasized that finding a replacement for Kane is impossible, which could affect England's prospects in upcoming major tournaments, especially the Nations League.

Thomas Tuchel, coach of Bayern Munich, has expressed the opinion that England will not be able to find a direct replacement for Harry Kane, as the striker constantly increases his impressive scoring record in the national team shirt. Kane just scored his 87th goal for England in the 2-0 win over Czechia in the Nations League on Tuesday, in which he scored the second goal after Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in Prague.
Currently, Kane is only 13 goals away from the milestone of 100 goals for the national team, an achievement he achieved after 123 appearances. Despite turning 33 in July, Tuchel does not believe that England can simply find another striker who can replace Kane's contribution when he decides to retire. "You won't find another Harry Kane, first of all," Tuchel said. "We will look for other options and solutions. There will be someone else, but it won't be Harry or a clone of Harry."
A potential solution was shown in the match against Czechia, when Jude Bellingham was moved into the striker position after Kane was substituted. Tuchel has previously used Bellingham in more advanced positions and believes the Real Madrid midfielder possesses qualities that could help England use him as an unorthodox striker. However, for now, it seems there is no immediate need to replace Kane, as his goalscoring record remains excellent.
Last season, Kane scored 61 goals in all competitions for Bayern Munich, helping them win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, and he has described it as the best season of his career. Tuchel, who coached Bayern when Kane moved from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, believes his former student has developed into a more complete striker. He particularly emphasized Kane's work ethic in training sessions with England, alongside his finishing ability, describing the England captain as a "perfect package".
Kane's consistency has prompted Tuchel to joke that finding his successor could become someone else's responsibility if the striker continues to play for the next decade. England's focus now is on maximizing their captain's remaining years, as they continue their Nations League campaign with a match against Croatia next Saturday. For Tuchel, the challenge going forward will not be to find the next Kane, but to build an attack capable of performing without trying to replicate a player he considers irreplaceable.
What happens next
England will need to find alternative options when Kane is no longer playing, with Jude Bellingham possibly a potential option. This transition can reshape the way the team plays in the next matches, and will be a big challenge for coach Gareth Southgate in maintaining the strength of the attack.
