- Barca won all nine matches in the first season.
Barcelona continued to show its strength in the 2026-2027 season when it defeated Getafe 3-0 in the match held on October 10. With this victory, the Catalan team maintained a winning record in all nine matches of the first season, scoring a total of 39 goals and conceding only 8 goals.
The match was not affected by the break for the national teams. Coach Hansi Flick has made changes to the starting lineup, with Raphinha absent due to injury. However, the presence of Lamine Yamal in attack has helped Barca maintain their impressive form. The team quickly opened the score after just 78 seconds thanks to Anthony Gordon's goal. His long shot hit Mario Martin and left goalkeeper David Soria unable to block it.
This goal was not only Gordon's first goal in seven games in La Liga, but also the earliest goal by an English player in the tournament in the 21st century. The quick defeat forced Getafe to retreat deep and try to reorganize the defense to avoid a more serious defeat. However, Barca's constant pressure has made this task difficult.
By the 30th minute, Barca doubled the gap thanks to a mistake by Getafe's defense. Gabriel Jesus had a brilliant strike, scoring his third of the season from three shots on target. Jesus' impressive performance has helped Barca make up for Raphinha's absence, not only in his ability to score but also in pressing.
In the second half, Getafe tried to find a goal to shorten the score but only had a few rare opportunities. Barca actively controlled the ball and waited for the opportunity to finish the match. Coach Flick sent Pedri and Fermin Lopez onto the field, helping to strengthen the midfield. In the 73rd minute, Lamine Yamal had a favorable cross for Jules Kounde to score, setting the score 3-0 for the home team.
With 24 absolute points, Barcelona is currently leading the La Liga table. They scored 34 goals in just eight rounds, a record unprecedented since the 1940-1941 season. In particular, this achievement helps Barca extend its record for the best start to a season in history with nine wins in all competitions, surpassing the old achievement that has existed for decades. At Camp Nou, the team is still an impregnable fortress, with a series of 23 consecutive wins at home. Thereby, coach Hansi Flick and his students are sending a strong message to their opponents in the championship race in La Liga and the Champions League.
What happens next
Barcelona will continue its journey in La Liga with high confidence after a series of wins. Coach Hansi Flick will need to continue to adjust the squad to maintain form, especially when Raphinha has not returned yet. The upcoming matches will be an opportunity for Barcelona to assert its strength and aim to defend the La Liga throne.
