Mika Godts made his official debut in the starting lineup for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and helped the home team win an important victory over Le Mans. However, this victory was affected by protests from fans, who expressed their opinions throughout the match.
In this match, PSG quickly scored the opening goal. Lucas Beraldo scored from the penalty spot, giving the home team the lead midway through the first half. However, not long after, the attention of the match turned to the stands, when PSG fans held up a banner in support of large student protests in France. These protests were sparked by dissatisfaction with the state of education, leading to numerous confrontations with police and thousands of arrests, many of them underage.
Despite protests, the group of passionate fans still refused to accept the banner being asked to be removed by security staff. They decided to leave the field temporarily and miss the rest of the first half. However, they returned in time to witness Louis Mafouta's equalizer in the 54th minute for Le Mans.
Godts was substituted around 60 minutes into the match and his replacement, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, immediately scored just two minutes after coming on. This Georgian player contributed to PSG leading 2-1. Not stopping there, Maghnes Akliouche, a new player transferred from AS Monaco, sealed the victory for PSG after a beautiful ball.
In the last minutes, Desiré Doué missed a penalty, but this did not affect PSG's victory. With three points, PSG is gradually finding form with three consecutive victories. Currently, the Parisian team is in fifth place, three points behind leaders Monaco, who were also held to a draw by Toulouse with a goal from former Feyenoord player Casper Tengstedt.
What happens next
After the match, PSG may need to consider how to communicate and interact with fans to reduce tension. Mika Godts, with his impressive performance, may be more trusted in the upcoming matches, especially when PSG continues its campaign in Ligue 1. The team will also need to maintain their form to compete with rivals such as AS Monaco in the championship race.
