Dan-Axel Zagadou has decided to extend his contract with VfB Stuttgart for another year, after a short spell without the club.

Recently, VfB Stuttgart officially announced the contract extension with player Dan-Axel Zagadou. Previously, there was much information that this defender would leave the team after his old contract expired on June 30. However, just two days after the contract expired, Stuttgart confirmed that Zagadou would continue to be with the team until 2027.During the past time, Zagadou has encountered many difficulties in his career, mainly due to injuries. At the beginning of the renewal negotiations, the 27-year-old was uncertain about his future, and hoped to find another team. However, no team was able to materialize this deal and in the end, both sides agreed to continue cooperation.
Zagadou will enter his fifth season at Stuttgart, after signing in September 2022. During his time here, he did not show his best form due to constant injuries. In the previous four seasons, Zagadou played just over 19 Bundesliga matches each season. Last season, he had to miss a long time due to a muscle injury, only making three appearances in the Bundesliga and three times playing for the reserve team in the third division.
Zagadou's last match for the first team was on 31 May, against Werder Bremen, but he had to leave the field at half-time after an unimpressive performance.
With the contract extension, Stuttgart hopes that Zagadou will be able to overcome his injuries and become an important part of the team next season, when they participate in three tournaments at the same time. Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth said that Zagadou is a player with good skills and personality, who is an indispensable part of the squad. Zagadou also expressed gratitude for the trust the team's leadership has in him, and promised to devote his best to next season.
