In a difficult match, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won 2-0 against Olympique Lyonnais at home, thereby regaining the top spot in the Ligue 1 table. PSG's goals came from two players coming off the bench, Senny Mayulu and Mika Godts. The match took place last night, coinciding with the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony, an interesting coincidence as PSG's match also had to be postponed due to the protest situation in Paris.
PSG faced many difficulties in this match, especially without some key players such as Ousmane Dembélé, who was suffering from a muscle injury and could not play. Chvitsja Kvaratschelia's injury, recently suffered in the match against FC Barcelona, also prevented this team from having the strongest squad. However, PSG still had opportunities, but they had to rely on the excellence of goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. He made many important saves, helping PSG not have to concede a goal in this match.
The turning point of the match took place in the 72nd minute when Senny Mayulu, after entering the field, scored the opening goal for PSG with a shot from a distance of 18 meters, after a pass from Mika Godts. Just a few minutes later, in extra time, Mika Godts also scored his own goal with an accurate shot into the corner, sealing a 2-0 victory for PSG. The match ended with the home fans satisfied, as PSG continued to consolidate its position in the Ligue 1 championship race.
At the same time, Ruben Kluivert of Olympique Lyonnais was also put on the field in the 76th minute but could not help his team score any goals. This was a memorable match for PSG, when they showed the necessary strength to overcome an unpleasant opponent like Lyonnais, and affirmed their determination to defend their throne in Ligue 1 this season.
What happens next
With this victory, Paris Saint-Germain will continue to look forward to the next matches in Ligue 1 with confidence.
